Ridgecrest Sidesteps Damage Expectations Following Back-to-Back Earthquakes

Federal inspections to provide aid to earthquake victims in Ridgecrest begin Thursday, after the city was rocked last week by the largest earthquake to hit Southern California in two decades.

Yet, structural engineers found relatively little damage in the area that was struck by a 7.1 earthquake just 36 hours after a 6.4 tremor jolted the region.
