President Trump has announced he's sending about 15-hundred additional American military members to the Middle East.

He says he wants to protect the U.S. military personnel who are already in the region.

Acting Defense Secretary, Patrick Shanahan, says the deployments are a defensive measure and meant to reduce any future hostilities.

To find out more about this strategy, KCBS Radio news anchors Jeff Bell and Melissa Culross spoke with Brendan Kearney, Retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel and former Chief of Staff for the U.S. European Command.
