The college admissions scandal is shining light on an issue academics have started writing about in the last few years; helicopter Parents and young adults being unprepared to live on their own when they go away to school. For more than a decade Julie Lythcott-Haims saw it first hand as the Dean of Freshman students at Stanford. She's the author of the book “How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success.” She spoke with KCBS Radio Anchor Rebecca Corral and says parents need to stop doing everything for their children, especially in regards to academics.
