The Federal Reserve is widely expected to hike interest rates on Wednesday, even as the stock market plummets over fears of an economic slowdown.

President Trump has also taken the unusual step, for a president, of publicly discouraging the Fed from considering another rate hike.

To talk more about it, KCBS Radio Anchors Jeff Bell and Patti Reising spoke with Jim Wilcox, a professor of financial institutions at the Haas School of Business, a former economist with the Federal Reserve, who also served as a senior economist with the President's Council of Economic Advisors.
