Bird feeders are a staple of suburban backyards, providing an easy way for people to engage with the outdoors in their own environment.

While research consistently shows that bird feeders can influence wildlife, it turns out that they can also have an impact on human behavior in ways that could impact conservation efforts.

That's according to a new study out of Virginia Tech by Dr. Ashley Dayer, researcher and assistant professor fish and wildlife conservation. She spoke to KCBS Radio anchors Stan Bunger and Holly Quan to explain the connection.
