Today, the editorial staff of The East Bay Express were told they no longer had jobs.

Among those laid off include its Managing Editor Janelle Bitker, its Polk-award winning staff writer Darwin BondGraham, and others.

The embattled 40-year-old alternative weekly, known for its coverage of arts and culture as well as its hard-hitting investigative stories, recently lost a lawsuit filed by a former employee over overtime pay.

KCBS' Jeff Bell and Patti Reising spoke with Azucena Rasilla, an associate editor at the Express who was among those who were laid off.
