Chicago Grapples with Shootings on a Daily Basis

The mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton left 31 people dead and several more injured. That same weekend in Chicago 59 people were shot, including seven fatally. All told the first 28 days of July Chicago recorded 42 homicides.  

But while El Paso and Dayton have re-ignited a call for gun control and expanded background checks... The day to day shootings in the windy city have hardly been mentioned.
