Matt Bigler
Mon-Fri: 5 AM – 5:30 AM
KCBS’s Matt Bigler started as a reporter/anchor in 2004, and is now based in San Jose working out of the Silicon Valley Bureau. Matt co-anchors the 5:00am hour with Susan Leigh Taylor in San Francisco, and can also be seen on TV most mornings updating CBS 5’s Early Edition.
Before KCBS, Bigler cut his teeth in newsradio working at KMPH/KTRB in Fresno, KFBK Sacramento and KIRO in Seattle. Matt is a graduate of Fresno Pacific University with dual majors in English/Drama and Biblical Studies. While at school, Matt was the sports announcer for college basketball, volleyball and soccer, and performed in numerous theatrical productions. He has also studied Spanish extensively in Mexico and Spain.
Matt has been awarded several prestigious honors for his reporting including a National Headliner award for "Hired Hands," stories about the lives of migrant day laborers in Silicon Valley, and several regional Edward R. Murrow and APTRA awards for sports and feature reporting.
When he’s not behind the mic, Matt enjoys honing his culinary skills in the kitchen, camping, backpacking, wine tasting, reading, video gaming, and traveling abroad. He’s also a big film buff, making it his goal every year to watch all of the movies nominated for best picture before Oscar night.
