Centennial Celebration Week ends with the capstone event, the Stand for the Redwoods Festival in San Francisco on Sunday, October 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, California.

KCBS Radio anchor John Evans will host the family-friendly festival, celebrating 100 years of redwood conservation by the Save the Redwoods League. There will be live music, activities and a Sierra Nevada Brewery beer garden.

"As a Northern Californian, the redwoods are a part of my DNA, my spiritual center," said Evans. "They loom over my favorite hiking trails in Marin County, two giants stand guard over my home in the Oakland Hills, and there's even a small grove in downtown San Francisco, a perfect spot to reflect and recharge in the concrete jungle."

Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

RSVP for the event on the League’s Facebook page.

"I hope you can join us as we honor the heroic efforts being made to protect the redwood forests in California," said Evans. "Live music, face painting, hanging with family and friends, checking out the beer garden.  Sounds like a blast. See you there."
