(LOS GATOS, CA) - The famed Los Gatos restaurant Manresa has been damaged in a fire for the second time in four years.

The fire broke out around 9 p.m. on Monday night. A person walking by the restaurant saw the fire and walked to a fire station one block away to report it.

Santa Clara County Fire Captain Bill Murphy says crews arrived within minutes. "When they got on scene, an exterior wall and an adjoining fence of a restaurant was on fire. They were able to knock down the fire in about 15 minutes."Captain Murphy says luckily the restaurant was closed at the time and no one was inside. There was some damage to one exterior wall but damage inside the restaurant was relatively minor.

A previous fire in July 2014 was much more extensive and resulted in a six month closure, although it did not stop Manresa's ascent to one of the most highly rated restaurants in the world. After reopening in January 2015, executive chef David Kinch achieved his dream of a third Michelin star that year. The cause of that fire later turned out to be arson.

The restaurant is regularly closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and will not reopen as usual on Wednesday. It's not known yet when the restaurant will be able to reopen.

The cause of Monday's fire is still under investigation.
