Two People Shot At San Bruno Mall

July 02, 2019 - 5:47 pm

Two people were injured in a shooting at the Tanforan Mall in San Bruno on Tuesday.

The victims, described by authorities as young men, were taken to San Francisco General Hospital after the gunfire erupted, officials said. One had critical injuries and the other was considered to have serious injuries.

Police said that there were two shooters with handguns, but it's unknown what prompted the violence.

Witnesses told KCBS Radio they heard multiple gunshots and saw people running through the mall to escape around 4 p.m. The mall was evacuated as authorities investigated.

The shooting had a far-reaching impact on the BART train system.

The San Bruno station has been closed for hours and Oakland's 12th Street station was briefly closed while police with weapons drawn boarded a train to search for at least one suspect from the shooting. The disruption caused significant delays and made it difficult for travelers to reach San Francisco International Airport.
