"I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in six or seven weeks." Boyle tells Metro New York. "Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now."

Ever since 2012's Skyfall, MGM and EON, the studios behind putting 007 on the big screen has long been after Boyle to direct a film in the franchise.

Director Sam Mendes has directed the last two Bond movies which both grossed the highest for the film series. 2017's Spectre brought in $880.7 million worldwide while 2012's Skyfall earned $1.1 billion globally.

Daniel Craig has signed on to return in the upcoming 25th Bond film.
