Many boaters in Sausalito are applauding the crackdown on the hundreds of people who allegedly anchor illegally without paying fees in the Richardson Bay.

Sausalito Police have begun posting orange stickers on their decks, giving boat people 72-hours to move their vessels or have them towed.

Phillip Cox, who recently sailed over from Berkeley, said many inhabitants of the so-called anchors dump their waste into the bay.

"A lot of this stuff that washes up on shore is pretty heinous and nasty for the people that spend money here to keep their houseboats or vessels berthed," said Cox.

One woman who paddled in from one of these renegade boats told KCBS Radio that she loves living on the water and has no intention of leaving.
