SANTA CLARA (KCBS Radio) - Fire crews are still on the scene of a three-alarm fire at an auto dealership in Santa Clara. KCBS Radio's Matt Bigler reports.

Fire trucks surrounded AutoNation Acura Stevens Creek, located at at 4747 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Santa Clara. Pouring water directly into the service department, which now has no roof because the flames tore through it. The fire started around 6:20 Tuesday morning.

Santa Clara Fire Chief Bill Kelly says initially fire crews entered the building to try and put out the flames. "They had offensive actions taken by one crew. The incident commander got here and saw the condition of the building a pull that crew out." Chief Kelly said. "The fire erupted through the through the roof. The roof then collapsed and firefighters began exterior defensive fire operations.

The service department and likely all that's in it, including customers vehicles looks to be a total loss. There's no word on what started the blaze but one Acura employee said nothing should have been activated in the service bays and of course all of that will be part of the follow up investigation.
