Man Taken Into Custody After Early Morning Standoff In Cole Valley

May 21, 2018 - 10:21 am

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) - A man was taken into custody after barricading himself in a building in San Francisco's Cole Valley neighborhood early Monday morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers had responded at about 3:30 a.m. to a possible domestic dispute in the 100 block of Carl Street and made contact with the suspect, who refused to exit the building, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Robert Rueca said.

Police called in their hostage negotiation team and closed off the surrounding area. At about 7:30 a.m., they were able to peacefully resolve the incident and bring the suspect into custody, Rueca said.

He said the suspect, whose name is not yet being released, was treated at the scene for minor injuries that were unrelated to his arrest.

The standoff blocked the nearby San Francisco Municipal Railway N-Judah light-rail line, so bus shuttles took passengers around the area, Muni officials said.

No other information about the case was immediately available from police.
