If you're flying out of the Oakland International Airport this spring or summer, you may qualify for free parking. KCBS Radio's Kim Wonderley has the details in this week's Road Report.

The popular, free parking program is back this season at the Oakland International Airport. Unlike previous deals, this offer lasts through the peak summer travel season.

Here are the nuts and bolts. Travelers can get four days of free parking in the daily lot for nonstop flights to Hawaii or Europe between May 1 and September 3.  That adds up to $96 in savings. After the fourth day, travelers will pay $24 per day for parking.

To be eligible, there are a few steps involved.

Start at OaklandAirport.com and click on the parking section, which leads to a promotional box to register for free parking. Flyers will upload proof of purchase on flights to Hawaii or European destinations and then receive a QB code in email.

Don't delay. Processing could take up to five business day and airport officials said that passengers should submit their request at least 10 days ahead of their travel dates.

Do the math too. Depending on the length of a trip, it could still be cheaper to park in one of the many off-site parking lots.

One of the best options is Express Airport Parking on Doolittle Drive. Their online coupons can bring the price down to $7.95 for outdoor self-parking, although those spaces fill up quickly. Their valet parking can be obtained for as little as $15.95 per day.

Other popular lots include Park n Fly with online rates starting at $12.95 a day and Air Park at $13.50 a day with the seventh day free. Groupon frequently has parking packages available.
