BART Service Shut Down Across System For Hours

There was no BART service for hours on Saturday due to a computer problem that had disrupted the network.

At 9 a.m., BART announced that it had reopened "with limited service" although there are still no trains "between Daly City and Millbrae and SFO."

The problem started overnight when crews worked on what transit agency officials called their "uninterruptible power supply" in Oakland. The crews ran into problems with a "power supply system and train control routing system," according to a BART statement

"Without both these systems, we are not able to safely dispatch trains for service," the statement said.

Buses have been picking passengers up at stations as a replacement.
