Two men have been arrested in connection with a carjacking earlier this month that left a teenager with a gunshot wound to his leg, Mountain View police said Wednesday.

Marcos Alcalde, 29, was arrested while attempting to flee from his Richmond apartment in a ride-hailing vehicle on Monday, according to authorities.

Police believe that he and Eduardo DeJesus Flores, 21, who was arrested on February 3, were behind the carjacking at American Tires that left the teenaged employee with a gunshot wound.

The teen told officers that a man approached him, demanding the car he was standing near and shot him in the leg.

The shooter was Alcalde, according to police.

Alcalde and an accomplice, who the police believe was Flores, stole a blue Subaru sedan and fled.

The boy was taken to a hospital with a tourniquet applied to his leg, and released a few days later. Police said he is recovering from his injuries at home.

The following day, Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies said they observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Subaru in Richmond, and tried to conduct a traffic stop. They said Fores attempted to escape, but crashed the car, before being arrested.

Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime. Alcalde also has an outstanding warrant, according to Mountain View police.
