SAN JOSE (KCBS Radio) -- San Jose Police are searching for the driver of a white van after a collision early Thursday morning left a female pedestrian dead. It was the third fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision of 2019 in San Jose.

Authorities said the collision occurred at 12:35 am at the intersection of South 10th Street and East Santa Clara Street. Investigators said the woman was crossing East Santa Clara Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by the van traveling on South 10th Street.

Police were unable to say if the traffic light at the intersection was in the pedestrian's favor. Neighbors told KCBS Radio reporter Matt Bigler that it's common to see people cross against the light at that intersection.

San Jose Police left a sandwich-board sign at the scene, asking anyone with information to call investigators at (408) 277-4654.
