Thousands Of PG&E Customers Lose Power Amid Strong Storm

More than 24,000 PG&E customers were still without electricity on Thursday morning following the strong storm that blew through the region, according to the utility. 

The most heavily affected area was the North Bay where 10,302 lacked power at 9 a.m., PG&E officials said. Customers on the Peninsula and in the South Bay were also hard hit with 5,997 and 5,943 respectively lacking service. There were 1,686 who lost power in the East Bay and 95 in San Francisco, according to the utility's figures. 

At its worst, there were 34,000 customers without electricity on Thursday. 

Downed trees, mudslides and closed roads interfered with crews who were working overnight, the company said. 

Along the Central Coast, there were another 18,243 PG&E customers affected by outages.
