OAKLAND (KCBS Radio) -- It's getting to be a regular thing. For the third time in four years, Golden State Warriors fans are congregating in downtown Oakland to celebrate an NBA Championship.

The parade will begin at 11 am on Broadway at 11th Street, turning right on 20th Street, turning right on Harrison to 19th Street, and right on Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and 13th Street.

Fans expecting the by-now-traditional rally at the end of the parade should be aware: there won't be one this year. The Warriors have opted for what they're calling an "interactive parade" in which vehicles carrying the players will stop numerous times along the way.

A crowd expected in the hundreds of thousands will force street closures and changes in transit operations. BART will run rush-hour service all day using every available train possible at maximum length to help people get to where they need to be. Service may be adjusted before and during the parade. This includes directing foot traffic to another station nearby, changing platforms as needed, and skipping stations with crowded platforms. BART is planning to carry as many as 500,000 riders--far above a normal day. The agency expects long lines at the ticket machines. Riders are advised to buy a Clipper card or a blue paper ticket in advance. The paper tickets require a $0.50 per-trip surcharge and the Clipper cards have a $3 one-time activation fee. BART will have tables set up at the Pittsburg/Bay Point, Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont stations to sell tickets.

Numerous AC Transit lines will be re-routed and the main Oakland Public Library will close for the day.

With a forecast high temperature of 77 degrees in Oakland, parade attendees are being urged to stay hydrated and look for shade when possible.
