SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) -- We've closed the books on July and the weather records show it was indeed a hot one here in Northern California.

National Weather Service data tell the story.: Redding notched 29 days in July above 90 degrees, and saw the average temperature for the month run almost 5 degrees above normal.

Sacramento was 3.6 degrees above normal, and had only three days that didn't hit the 90 mark by afternoon.

The story's the same almost everywhere you look. Concord ran about 4 degrees above normal in July and San Jose was 2 degrees warmer than an average July.

Fire experts say warmer weather, especially at night, is a major factor in the explosion of wildfires in California.
