Body-camera footage from a Napa County Sheriff's deputy may reveal important details about the officer's deadly shooting of a driver in his car alongside a rural road on Sunday night.

Investigators are reviewing the images for information about the alleged exchange of gunfire between the driver, who has not been identified, and the deputy who is on administrative leave during the review.

Authorities claim that the man opened fire first and the deputy shot back, killing the suspect. The deputy was uninjured.

The shooting occurred on Henry Road, roughly two miles from Napa, at 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force, which includes members of the sheriff's office, Napa police department and county prosecutors, are investigating the altercation.
