SAN JOSE (KCBS Radio) -- Bay Area gasoline prices continue a steady climb, with analysts saying a return to $4 a gallon prices is likely by summer.

The latest report from AAA shows a gallon of regular-grade gasoline averages $3.84 in San Francisco, with motorists in Oakland and San Jose paying an average of  $3.74 a gallon for regular.

Bay Area gas prices have climbed by about 14 cents a gallon in the last month and about 60 cents a gallon in the last year, according to AAA.

Larry Tesdall in San Jose tells KCBS' Matt Bigler that he hasn't run the numbers to see the impact of higher gas prices on his own budget. But he points out that you have to think about it when gas prices go above four dollars a gallon, saying "mentally, it has an effect."

Meantime, Elijah, who didn't want to give his last name, tells Matt that he's noticed the higher prices and says "it adds up." He says he's planning his trips more carefully and budgeting better in order to make it work.
