SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) -- A new survey of Bay Area residents reveals 46% of them would rather be living somewhere else.

The same poll put that number at 40% a year ago and 34% two years ago. The survey by the Bay Area Council, a business-backed public policy group, revealed rising disullisonment with the cost and availability of housing in the Bay Area.

The poll of 1,000 Bay Area residents found 42% naming "housing" as the single biggest problem facing the Bay Area. A year ago, 28% pointed to housing.  18% said traffic and congestion were the most significant problem in the Bay Area, 14% named poverty and homelessness, and 12% pointed to the cost of living.
