KCBS Wins 9 Associated Press Television And Radio Awards

Awards Include Outstanding News Operation

KCBS Radio is the proud winner of nine Associated Press Television and Radio Association Awards for coverage in 2018.  

APTRA covers 13 western states, and KCBS Radio won more awards, including the top honor for outstanding news operation, than any station. 

The majority of the awards were for coverage of the deadly Camp Fire in Butte County.

APTRA selected KCBS Radio for best evening newscast for the broadcast anchored by Patti Reising and Jeff Bell on November 8, the day that the Camp Fire ignited. 

The station also won in the spot news category for reporting about the Camp Fire by Holly Quan, Margie Shafer, Megan Goldsby and Veronica Carter and anchoring by Stan Bunger, Rebecca Coral and Patti Reising, 

A compilation of reports about the numerous wildfires across the state last year, including blazes in Mendocino County and Yosemite National Park, earned the best continuing coverage award. 

The awards include best continuing coverage for "California Wildfires," which was a compilation of the coverage

Doug Sovern was named the best overall reporter by APTRA.
