A man and a woman perished after apparently plummeting from a well-known overlook in Yosemite National Park, the park announced in a statement on Thursday.

Investigators are looking into how the visitors fell from the lofty 7,500 foot Taft Point.

The elevated views from Taft Point are notorious for creating vertigo. The park's website advises hikers to "watch your step" along the trail.

Park rangers are trying to recover the bodies of the unidentified man and the woman, said Yosemite spokesman Scott Gediman.

There have been four other deaths at Yosemite this year involving hikers and rock climbers.
