Suspect Arrested In Texas For Alleged Murder Of Fremont Teen During Drug Deal

Authorities arrested and charged a suspect who had allegedly fled to Texas and planned to leave the country after killing a 17-year-old in Fremont during a marijuana deal earlier this month. 

Christian Kellog was charged in Alameda County on Tuesday with murdering Damani Chadly and the attempted murder of his 19-year-old friend who survived the Dec. 4 shooting. 

Chadly and his friend were allegedly buying pot from Kellogg when a dispute arose, followed by Kellogg firing multiple times into the car driven by Chadly's friend. 

Chadly, a senior at California High School in San Ramon, was pronounced dead at the scene in the Northgate neighborhood. 

"We are saddened by this tragic incident that occurred in our community and we send our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victims," Fremont police said in a statement. 

There is an online fundraiser for the father of Chadly. . 

A 2013 Honda Civic  "associated with Kellogg" was recorded driving toward a freeway from the scene of the shooting, police said. 

US Marshals apprehended Kellogg in Pflugerville, near Austin, on Dec. 12, according to Fremont police. They claimed to have found a semi-automiatc weapon, additional magazines, "a large quantity of cash and suspected marijuana." 

The Honda Civic was also found nearby with its license plates removed, police said. There was also evidence that Kellogg planned to leave the country, according to police.
