Police in Tampa, Fla. on Monday released the recording of a 911 call in which a woman tells a dispatcher that former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster had slapped her in the face.

"My ex-boyfriend took my phone and broke it, and he slapped me in my face," says the woman in the 2-minute call when asked by the dispatcher to describe what happened.

The woman's name was shielded in the recording, but she has been identified elsewhere as Foster's on-again, off-again girlfriend Elissa Ennis. She said that did not need medical attention for any injuries.

"I need police," she said in the call.

Foster was arrested on a charge of domestic violence battery on Saturday at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa, the day before the 49ers game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hours later, the team cut ties with Foster, who posted $2,000 bond.

Ennis had accused the troubled football player of domestic violence in February. She later recanted the accusation in court.
