SAN JOSE — A 24-year-old transient man has been arrested for murdering a San Jose mother who was found slain in her home, police announced on Tuesday.

Carlos Eduardo Arevalo Carranza was arrested on Monday in San Jose for the alleged killing of Bambi Larson, 59, on February 28 in a quiet section of the city.

Police department officials intended to reveal more about his arrest at a press conference later on Tuesday.

Larson died from "sharp force injuries" to her "neck and torso," according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Her body was discovered in her bedroom after coworkers became concerned when she did not show up for work at a biotech firm.

Neighbors previously told KCBS Radio that officers had said there were no signs of forced entry into Larson's home.
