BERKELEY (KCBS Radio) - A group of female exchange students from Ireland was robbed at gunpoint by four women near the University of California at Berkeley's Clark Kerr Campus early Saturday morning, police said.

The exchange students were walking on Etna Street at about 4:00am.

Saturday and had just turned onto Parker Street when a car pulled up next to two of the students and four female suspects got out, surrounded the students, pointed a gun at them and demanded their property, Berkeley police spokesman Officer Byron White said.

The suspects took a backpack from one of the students and then got back into their car and drove away, according to White.

The students weren't injured, he said.

The suspects are still at large and police aren't releasing a detailed description of them, according to White.
