Former Engineer Sues Uber With Sexual Harassment

May 22, 2018 - 3:53 pm

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) - A female engineer who worked at UBER is suing the company for sexual harassment.

CNET reports Ingrid Avendaño says she was sexually harassed while she worked at the company and when she complained... the company retaliated.

It's the second time Avendaño has sued the company. She and two other female engineers filed suit last October... claiming female and minority employees were paid less than their white male counterparts. That lawsuit became a class action suit representing 420 female engineers which the company settled for 10 million dollars in March... but Avendaño opted out.

This time, the suit is focusing on sexual harassment... saying male colleagues touched her and spoke to her inappropriately.

UBER would not comment on the lawsuit... but issued a statement saying the company has made several changes over the past year to improve pay equity as well as diversity.
