SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) - A former doctor from Orinda accused of flying from Thailand to San Francisco International Airport with sexually explicit images of children two years ago has pleaded guilty to transporting child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

John D. Warbritton III, who was a doctor but lost his license to practice due to sexual misconduct with at least one of his patients, arrived with a laptop and cellphone that both contained child pornography when he traveled to the U.S. March 27, 2016.

There were at least 150 images, and investigators said some of the images depict grown men engaging in sexual acts with girls younger than 12.

He was indicted in October 2017, and pleaded guilty Wednesday as part of a plea agreement.

Warbritton faces up to 20 years in prison when he returns to court for sentencing on Aug. 8.

Anyone who suspects a child is being sexually exploited can report the potential crime to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children using their 24-hour hotline at (800) THE-LOST.
