SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) - It is Friday, 4/20 day and in San Francisco that means Golden Gate Park's Hippy Hill will be the scene of all things cannabis. KCBS Radio's Tim Ryan reports from Golden Gate Park where he says this year's celebration will be the first since pot became legally accessible for recreational use in the state.

Jonah Torres' of Santa Cruz is here selling hats and T-shirts promoting his new citrus-like strain of cannabis. He says the gathering will have a bit of a different feeling this year, what with recreational pot now legal in California.

"I feel it is different in the sense that it's going to attract new crowds and new connoisseurs that are entering the legal recreational field." Torres said.

Jordan drove up from Hayward with some buddies saying the legalization of pot in California will not deter this party. "Well I think the reason why people are showing up is because one is self expression." Jordan said. "I think the fact that it's legalized in California today is the fact that people are now able to actually go 'hey we can do what we want how we want to do it' and now we're going to show you that this is actually a safe fun time to actually have a good time with people," And party, they will.

Park and Rec is expecting a crowd of up to 15,000.
