CONCORD — Screams emanated from a makeshift passenger plane at a Concord airport on Monday. Then, the airplane burst into flames.

The good news was that this was only a drill.

Contra Costa county firefighters were training this week for the unique conditions that arise when an airplane crashes.

"It's very important," said Contra Costa County Director of Airports Keith Freitas. "First responders have got to be prepared and get as close to real life as they can get."

The drills at Buchanan Field Airport continue through Friday.
