A wildfire burning near Lake Berryessa, east of St. Helena, led authorities to evacuate people from some homes on Monday.

Some roads, including a stretch of Highway 128, remained closed on Tuesday due to the fire.

The Canyon Fire had scorched 55 acres and was 60% percent contained on Monday evening, according to Cal Fire.

The fire started along Highway 128 at Wragg Canyon Road after 2 p.m.

The Solano County Office of Emergency Services evacuated nine homes in the Stubbins and Cold Canyon area.

Winds and steep hillsides presented challenges to the multiple emergency services that were trying to extinguish the fire.
