It's time once again for KCBS Radio traffic reporter Bob Pryor's guide to weekend traffic and events around the Bay Area. As always, Bob points out the exciting highlights on the social calendar and the likely trouble spots on the roads and mass transit.

It’s a mixed bag of events this weekend as a Niners game at Levi’s Stadium and a great big Santa Run in Silicon Valley provide some fun, while overnight tunnel closures for MUNI and some BART maintenance could put a crimp in your mass transit travel plans. Check out the items below to ensure a problem-free trip, whether you’re taking a late-night ride on Muni, cruising down the Peninsula coast, or dressing up as St. Nick to pound the pavement in San Jose.

SOUTH BAY:

Sun, Dec 16 from 3:30pm-6pm: San Jose: Santa Run Silicon Valley 5Kwhich starts on Santa Clara Street at Almaden Boulevard and finishes at Plaza de Cesar Chavez. the site of the Christmas in the Park festival.

  • Pro tip: If you’re more interested in avoiding the many street closures involved in this event, this handy list includes approximate closure times.
  • Areas and roadways affected: Several streets in Downtown San Jose will be closed, including the Santa Clara Street off-ramp from northbound Hwy-87 and several blocks of The Alameda.

Sun, Dec 16 at 1:05pm: Levi’s Stadium: 49ers play the Seattle Seahawks

  • Pro tip: The stadium parking lots will open at 9:35am and that’s about when traffic will start ramping up. After 4:15 or 4:30, when the game lets out, traffic will be heavy again. Since it’s the weekend, keep in mind, that CalTrain service north of Bayshore Station is via buses. More tips here.
  • Areas and roadways affected: Highways 101 and 237, Great America Parkway, the Lawrence and San Tomas Expressways, etc.

EAST BAY:

Sat, Dec 15 from 10pm to Sun., Dec 16 at 12:30pm: BART passengers should expect delays of 20 to 40 minutes between the South Hayward and Fremont stations, because of single-tracking.

  • Pro tip: This is the second weekend in a row for this work. Keep in mind, it can affect trains as far away as Richmond or Daly City, if the train originated on (or is heading to) the Fremont Line.
  • Areas and roadways affected: BART trains heading to, or originating from, the Warm Springs/South Fremont station.

SAN FRANCISCO:

Fri, Dec 14 and Sat, Dec 15 from approximately 11pm-9am: MUNI: West Portal and Forest Hill Stations will be closed overnight, along with Muni’s Twin Peaks Tunnel. Shuttle buses will run on the K, L, and M lines between Embarcadero and each line’s final destination. Customers should board where they see the yellow half-moon "Muni Metro Shuttle" signs.

  • Pro tip: The shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes until Muni’s OWL service starts (and OWL service is unaffected by the closures). Be aware, though: These same closures and shuttle bus substitutions will happen again on the nights of Dec 21-22 and Dec 28-29.
  • Areas and roadways affected: Muni’s K, L, M lines served by buses west of Embarcadero.

NORTH BAY/SOLANO:

Sat, Dec 15 (11am-1am) and Sun, Dec 16 (11am-10pm): Santa Rosa: Sonoma County Fairgrounds hosts the Emerald Cup, described as “the largest, most respected, organic, outdoor, medicinal cannabis competition in the world.” In addition to the competition, there will be all sorts of seminars, tutorials, workshops, and presentations; and the music and other entertainment will continue well into the evening.

  • Pro tip: There’s limited parking at the Fairgrounds itself, but there’s ample nearby parking at various garages and a free Emerald Cup Shuttle runs all day and well into the evening.
  • Areas and roadways affected: In Santa Rosa: Highway 12 east of Hwy-101; Bennett Valley Road; South E Street; Brookwood Avenue.
