SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) - San Francisco held its first black history month parade Tuesday in the Bayview neighborhood. KCBS Radio's Bob Butler said the focus was on celebrating past and present heroes.

"There are a lot of amazing heroes that are not here with us today that we are going to be celebrating today," Supervisor London Breed said they're celebrating the past that vie toward the future.

"People like Espanola Jackson, Willie B. Kennedy, Leroy King, Mary Helen Rodgers," Breed adds. "We've had amazing people in our communities who helped to get us to even a place where we can have this kind of celebration."
