Some teachers in San Jose got quite the surprise Thursday.

A total of 12 teachers at nine schools received a visit by mascots from the Pac-12 universities, who handed them a check for purchasing school supplies.

Lori Bioletto, a teacher at Windmill Springs Elementary School, was shocked by the gesture, and said she will most likely spend $3,000 on science equipment.

“It’s very exciting, I’m kind of shaky,” Bioletto said. “My brain is not functioning right now.”

Teachers who received the monetary award can spend the check however they’d like.

“The platform is all about promoting quality teacher,” said Josh Ishoo with the Pac-12. “We want to give back to the community.”

Ishoo said Pac-12 will host a championship football game at Levi’s Stadium tomorrow.
