New Food Hall Coming to Oakland's Jack London Square

JRDV
Oakland is getting a massive new food hall in Jack London Square that will feature famous Bay Area chefs and businesses.
The two-story market hall will be a culinary destination for Bay Area food lovers.
“Oakland Assembly” opens next summer with space for nearly two dozen local chefs.
“I think this lineup is really impressive and speaks to the ambition of this food hall,” Jenelle Bitker, a food writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, tells KCBS Radio. “There’s the chef-owner of Reem’s, Juhu Beach Club, Horn BBQ, and Mensho Ramen. These are all really popular.”
The 40,000-square-foot facility will feature a cocktail bar, a large indoor stage for live entertainment, a second-floor banquet hall, and an outdoor patio area with views of the San Francisco skyline.
In a time where many Bay Area restaurants are closing their doors, Bitker says this food hall will create foot traffic in a prime location for tourists and families.
“It has that interesting mix of warehouses and waterfront and ferry access to San Francisco,” Bitker said, “so I think that in the grander scheme of making Jack London Square a tourist destination for Oakland, I think the market makes sense.
