SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS Radio) -- A man was hospitalized Friday morning after surviving a fiery crash at a service station on 19th Avenue at Junipero Serra Boulevard.

First responders found the vehicle engulfed in flames after it rammed a vapor-recovery tank at the usually-busy Chevron station. The driver was extricated from the car and taken to a local hospital with what were described as "serious" injuries.

Investigators believe the car had been traveling at a high rate of speed in northbound lanes of 19th Avenue before veering into the gas station.
