Multiple lanes of the Bay Bridge will be closed in both directions on Saturday and Sunday nights, according to Caltrans.

Beginning around 11 p.m. Saturday, three lanes will be shut from the suspension tower in the westbound direction until 9 a.m. Sunday.

During the same approximate time frame, the three lanes will be closed for eastbound drivers until they reach the suspension tower.

There will be work again Sunday night that is supposed to end by 5 a.m. Monday. Two eastbound lanes will close between 11:45 p.m. and 5 a.m. while two westbound lanes will close earlier, between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.

The closures are needed for a construction project, a Caltrans coordinator told KCBS Radio.
