There will be reduced BART service between Orinda and Walnut Creek stations this Saturday as parts of the track near the Lafayette station are rebuilt.

Passengers should expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes, because trains will be running on a single track between the stations, BART officials said.

There’s potential for some trains to be turned back at Orinda Station. If that occurs, riders will be asked to disembark and board a different train.

The work will also require overnight closures of the two left lanes of eastbound Highway 24 at Oak Hill Road in Lafayette from 11 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday.

The maintenance was planned for Oct. 26 and 27, but was limited because of high fire danger. This Saturday should be the last time that the work impacts BART service, as the remainder of the construction will be done overnight when the system shuts.
