More California Inmates Die From COVID-19 As Virus Spreads Behind Bars

One Inmate Died Saturday, Two Died Friday

    Another inmate at San Quentin State Prison died Saturday from what appear to be complications related to COVID-19, according to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials.

    The unnamed inmate died at an outside hospital.

    San Quentin has now seen 17 inmate deaths from the virus, and 628 incarcerated individuals are currently infected.

    Two California inmates also died Friday from what appear to be coronavirus-related complications.

    The CDCR announced in a statement that one inmate from Avenal State Prison and another from San Quentin State Prison died at outside hospitals.

    Their identities have not been released.
