Every day, dozens of people walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, but one woman crossed the span as part of her journey to walk across at least a dozen states on August 30.

At sunrise, Jane Sullivan, 61, stepped onto the landmark bridge from Marin County. representing the final leg of  her 12-week tour through 12 states on foot.

"I don't tire easy," said Sullivan, who lives in La Honda and hails from Yorkshire, England. She has been traveling cross country to simply encourage people to be active.

"I just want to inspire more and encourage older people not just to sit down, but to keep on going," she said, "and trying to get young people to start going, which has been the hardest part."

She says she's met far too many young people who spend almost all of their time looking down at their screens.

"They don't even want to look you in the face," she said.

She expect to reach her home on the Peninsula sometime on Saturday.
