Eyeing 2020, Jay Inslee pitches himself as climate candidate

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is using an East Coast swing to test out his message on climate change as a way to stand out among many Democrats eying the White House in 2020.

In an appearance this week before college students in New Hampshire, the first primary state, Inslee said the 2020 Democratic nominee must make combating climate change a top priority.

Inslee also used the New Hampshire trip to patch things up with the state Democratic chairman who'd been aggravated Inslee didn't use his post as Democratic Governors Association leader to steer campaign money to New Hampshire. Democrats lost the governor's race last year.

Inslee says he'll announce in "weeks, not months" whether he's officially joining the presidential race.
